Doctor Who episode reaction: Fear Her
I saw so much negative reaction to last week's "Love & Monsters" that I waited several days to view it. Then I ended up liking it and feeling stupid for letting myself be so swayed by those opinions. So I caught "Fear Her" in a much more timely manner, and I liked it, too. It won't go down as one of my favorites, but it was more than worth the time.
So, let's start with Rose. She was proactive and actually did some useful things instead of getting in the way or being annoying. Except for near the end, when she was moping over the Doctor's absence. And the very end, when she talked about how they would always be all right, or some such nonsense. Wasn't she listening to Sarah Jane in "School Reunion"? Aside from that, though, she did well. Did some exploring, figured things out, used her brain. Good for her. Mostly she came across as cute and appealing instead of just getting on my nerves. She reminded me of why I liked her immediately back at the start of series 1.
Loved the Doctor landing the TARDIS the wrong way around and carrying the Olympic torch. Also the "dad" line, which is probably going to get a mention in 99.9% of all the reviews posted. Of course, it deserves to. Plus, the look on Rose's face was priceless. Then she was like, "What did you say?" And the Doctor didn't exactly answer her, ha!
The supporting characters were good, the plot was decent, there were some scary moments, etc. I'll have to think about exactly where I want to rank this episode among all the ones this season, but it definitely was better than at least four others.
