TV meme

I'm still sick. I have been mildly ill since New Year's Eve, and it's really starting to piss me off. I did a meme to make myself feel less annoyed. Taken from [livejournal.com profile] bewarethespork.

Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
Gilmore Girls

Name a (current) show you can't miss:
Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters

Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show:
Lauren Graham. When I heard that Maura Tierney couldn't do Parenthood, I was really disappointed. Who else could they get who would be nearly so good? Then they did it.
Oh, and Calista Flockhart. And Sally Field.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
I actually don't like Nathan Fillion. So, yeah. Him. Though I did watch Desperate Housewives while he was on it, but it would take a lot more than his presence to make me stop watching that show.

Name a show you can, and do, quote from.
I'm terrible with quotes. None.

Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:
None? It seems like I can always find at least one person who likes whatever I watch.

Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:
I don't sing. Believe me, this is a good thing.

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
The Amazing Race. I love it to little bits and pieces. It's also a show that I think most people would enjoy if they gave it a chance.

Name a TV series you own:
I have most of the Moonlighting episodes.

What is your favourite episode of your favourite series?
My favorite show keeps changing.

A show you mean to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet:
Where to start? Mad Men, Big Love, Breaking Bad, etc.

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
Let's see. It takes a lot to make me quit watching a show. I did skip out on Buffy in its final season, but I returned for the end. I almost bailed on Prison Break but stuck it out all the way, somehow. Oh, I know: Lost! When it stopped being a gripping drama and went all weird time travel and crap, I was just like: "No. No more. Bye!"

Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least:
Law & Order, and its millions of spinoffs. I like character-driven shows, not plot-driven things.

Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Any daytime soap. Grey's Anatomy. ER. Any drama that's killed off characters I like.

Oldest TV show you like?
General Hospital. April 1, 1963.

Newest TV show you like?
I just saw the first episode of Life Unexpected last night and liked it, so that one.

What do you eat when you watch TV?
Usually nothing. Occasionally whatever the hell I want, and as much as I want.

How often do you watch TV?
Every day, without fail.

Do you have a favorite talk show?
No.

What's the last TV show you watched?
The Good Wife, tonight,

What's your favourite/preferred genre of TV?
Soap operas! No contest.

What's your least favourite genre of TV?
News. Boring! If you're talking the entertainment genre, then sitcoms, especially if they have laugh tracks. I've sat through whole episodes of things like Friends and Seinfeld without laughing once.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
The Adventures of Black Beauty

What TV show do you wish you never watched?
The final episode of Prison Break.

What's the weirdest show you enjoyed?
Gilligan's Island

What TV show scared you the most?
TV shows don't scare me.

What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
I Love Lucy. It had an annoying laugh track, but at least it was genuinely funny. They sure don't make them like they used to.

Which do you think is the best TV series ever made?
Too tough to say. Besides, I haven't seen them all.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. I rarely get sick, and I really feel only mildly bad, but it's been dragging on for three interminable weeks now. :(

I think that's actually the worst kind of illness to have - I know I hated the bad cold and cough I had the Xmas before last far more because it dragged on for weeks.

Interesting meme! I agree with you about Amazing Race -- I recently got my parents watching it, too. I love seeing all the different destinations and learning about them. I also love it when the burly frat boy team gets completely smoked by the not-at-all burly team, like the elderly couple or the mother and son.

And ooh, Moonlighting!

With Amazing Race, I always gravitate toward the teams that don't bicker. I can't stand arguing and name-calling. I also have a soft spot for older couples and parent/child teams.

*Hugs* Get better soon!

I will put up with a show with a laugh track if the show's funny enough. Examples: Seinfeld, Rules of Engagement.

And, as a devoted Nathan Fillion fangirl, I have to ask - why don't you like him? (Not saying it's bad that you don't or anything, I'm just curious as to why.)

[identity profile] ghost2.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, if a show is really good, I can get past the laugh track. But I wish they didn't exist anyway, because they distract and annoy me.

Nathan Fillion... where to start? I just think he's overrated and not at all a good actor. Plus, he gives off a smug vibe that really turns me off. I'm sure he's a nice person IRL but onscreen he doesn't do it for me at all.

With shows that I don't really love as much, I find myself listening to the laugh track and wondering why it doesn't line up with the parts of the show that I find funny - so yeah, I agree, they can be very distracting.

Hmmm, fair enough about Nathan Fillion. I like the smugness and I think he's a great actor, but YMMV, of course. There are loads of actors that other people love that I just can't stand at all. :)

Hooray, another TAR fan! The new season starts next month, and I can't wait.

"My ox is broken" was one of those classic moments, wasn't it?

There's a grandmother/granddaughter team on the new season! I'm already afraid for them, since older people and female/female teams haven't traditionally had the greatest results, but I have this feeling they'll be one of my favorites. I only hope I love several teams that do well. It's a lot more fun when I like the ones that are still in the running at the end.

I have a "My Ox Is Broken" t-shirt from TWOP, too. That incident will never stop being funny.

I haven't checked out the new teams yet -- for some reason when I looked yesterday, they still had the old ones up, but the new ones are there now! I agree, it would be nice to have some to actually care about at the end, since I was so meh about the final three this past season.
