Doctor Who fanfic rec: a Kamelion story

Every so often, I find a reason to say something nice about fanfiction.net.

In this case, the reason is a story about Kamelion that's posted there. Maybe he really is the worst companion ever, but he still deserves fanfic! Borrowed Time is one of the rarest of creatures: an excellent Kamelion-centric story.

I wonder how many people will actually go over and look at it, much less leave a review (hint, the author allows anonymous comments; I just left one), but I'm putting it out there because I think it deserves a mention. Even if mine is the only new review the author gets. Go on, now; give it a try. Even if you hate Kamelion, you might like the story.

Very nice - thanks for pointing it out! Have reviewed, too. Not sure I've ever seen a Kamelion fic before. I don't consider him the worst companion, just a failed one, in design/execution.

He's not my least favorite, but I had to put him on my "worst companions" list. I'm sure he seemed like a good idea at the time. Could have been really interesting, if only there weren't so many technical problems.

I can think of two other more or less Kamelion-centric fics: Symbiosis (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3159639/1/) (K rating) and Technophilia (http://www.david.gibbs.co.uk/five/technophilia.htm) (Adult). They're both crack.

It was great! I've always wanted to do a sort of twisted Kamelion fic and almost used him in the Hunt but...pouts I didn't. I'll use him one day. Him and Professor Hatery. (I loved that guy for some reason lol)

It's easy to forget Kamelion existed. At times the show seemed to ( or TPTB wanted to)! Kind of sad.

Oh, yay yay yay! I never even thought to ask if there *was* a such thing as a good Kamelion fic, simply because of such long odds. (Heck, finding nice Mel fics are hard enough!) I've bookmarked it and I'm gonna read it once I've had a few hours of sleep since its far easier to do when one isn't cross-eyed. Yes. I am ever so grateful for the postings of overlooked fics, if I haven't said so before. <3

Maybe I'll find a good Mel story for next time. Probably not, of course. You're right about it being rare!

Oh, good rec! Thanks! (And I'm sure the author would also thank you!)

Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Hello!

Thanks everyone!

I don't usually google my own stories (honest!) but then I don't usually get seven new reviews in two days. This was a rare occurrence that warranted further investigation!

So I just wanted to say thank you for the rec, the reviews and for reading. You're all lovely. :)

Your story deserved more reviews. I'm glad it got them. :)

Not usually a great peruser of FF.N, but I have bookmarked that for further perusal. What [livejournal.com profile] livii said about him being a companion in search of better development.

The general quality at ff.net is dreadful but occasionally I find something great there. It makes wading through the junk worthwhile.(I also sometimes post about the awful stuff I see, but generally I flock those posts.)
