really random observation

Why is it that renewing my subscription to TV Guide for one year (57 issues) would cost $39.20, while purchasing a "new" subscription for 56 issues costs just $14?

Guess which option I picked.

Well, naturally! The "new" option is obviously meant to entice new customers. I guess TV Guide doesn't think current subscribers would be interested in bargain hunting. ;-)

TV Guide does not know me. Anytime I go to buy something, I do a quick check to see if I can get it cheaper elsewhere. And I don't like to get cheated. I wouldn't have renewed at $39, but $14 is a good price.

"TV Guide does not know me."

This sounds like it should be an outraged battle cry: "TV Guide does not know me!!" *dramatic fist pump*

The world is mad. It's official.

How are things now? And did you win the battle of the tax forms?

Even better, TV Guide keeps sending me renewal offers for varying costs. And they do not get lower over time. The prices seem fairly random.

Things are somewhat better now. Not great, but improved. As for the taxes, I got my grandparents' stuff together. My own will wait until practically the last minute, because I don't feel like dealing with them yet and I have almost three whole weeks left to procrastinate.

The only mags I subscribe to seem pretty boirngly consistent in their prices!!

I'm very glad to hear it. And isn't that what deadlines of any sort are for?? ;-)
