Oh, a world of yes on the misspelled character names. I once got a fic for a ficathon, which may well have been a perfectly nice fic, I'd have no idea because I couldn't read more than a couple of lines of it because Tegan was consistently spelled as Teegan. Why-oh-why?
I used to be very guilty of the here's-a-fic-I-have-written-but-it-is-crap thing, but I'm much better now as I've realised there's a difference between being funny and self-deprecating and just being off-putting.
