Right, folks. We need to have a serious talk.

I would love to see more Classic Who fic over at Teaspoon. Now, if no one else submits it, I'm going to have to write it myself. And that pretty much means increased amounts of crack along the lines of Wolsey, the Voyeuristic Cat (the title I maybe should have used on my sole posting). Yes, that is a sad, sad threat.

Help me out here? Dust off that old Second Doctor story that's been lingering on your hard drive for three years and submit it; write a Six & Evelyn drabble. Anything.

I have a Classic/New Who crossover in the works - will that suffice for now?

That would be great. And I do like New Who fic, depending on how it's done. It's just the overwhelming amount of it that mostly sounds the same that can get to me.

I actually have several New/Classic Who cross-overs in the works (4 or 5) - it's just finding time to write them when I want to research the Classic Who characters properly first (to do them justice, otherwise, why bother?) - now I'm doing 2 jobs at once, finding time to watch episodes isn't easy...

Better to take your time and do it right than to rush it. I wish more authors would do some research. I saw a horrid Sixth Doctor story at ff.net written by an author who admitted to never seeing any of his serials. All she knew about him, she said in her notes, was that she'd been told he was rude and wore an ugly coat. And that's exactly how she wrote him. :(

So is mine. It made me write Ten/Rose for the kinkmeme and yes, I did post it at Teaspoon (in a joint account, not under my own name).

I have a lot of unposted fics at the moment, most of them Classic Who, because I have always feared being too spammy. I'll see what I can do. ;)

(Of course, increased amounts of Classic Who crack? I would not say no!)

If you post no more than a few stories a day (especially if there's variety in eras), you should be safe. :)

I do have an unutterably cracky idea involving K9. Maybe it will see the light of day soon.

Since I'm being honest today and seemingly ticking people off left and right already? :)

I love hearing what people think about stories. I want to talk to people about what they liked and didn't like. So it's frustrating as all hell to work on a Classic Who fic and see zero response and then watch a New Who fic of dubious content and execution earn dozens of replies. It's not that there aren't some lovely people who read the Classic fics and comment, there just aren't as many people to read those fics in the first place. It makes sense to me that people who want feedback would write for whoever is giving them feedback.

I don't let this stop me; try and make me stop running off at the word processor about Five and Tegan or Seven and Ace. I do wonder, however, if it does stop a great many other people from sharing their fic with us.

(Am I an elitist b- bringing the possible wank yet? ;))

Yeah, lack of feedback can be very discouraging. Of course, there's that old response I really don't like, that you should write because you enjoy it, not because you want pats on the back. Well, maybe people mostly should write for themselves, but when they post it publicly, they're doing that for other people. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a need for fic archives and comms. Lack of response? Could easily lead to an author writing but not sharing the work.

I do see a lot of Classic Who fic on LJ that never makes it to Teaspoon, though, and I wish it would. When it's scattered around LJ, it's so tough to find.

There really needs to be more Wolsey fic! I think my little contribution brought the total number on the Teaspoon up to about three stories.

LOLLERSKATES.

I *did* see a Wolsey fic about Eight/Benny on the kinkmeme ([livejournal.com profile] sizeofthatthing). Wonder if it got reposted?

That story was mine. I thought that it's not totally fair of me to complain about the lack of certain types of fic if I haven't posted any, so I owned up to it and put it on Teaspoon a couple days ago.

Broke my thumb in two places, no fic writing until its healed.
Sorry. Wrote that long thing in my journal and my eyes were watering by the end of it.

That sucks. :( I had a hard enough time typing a couple months ago, when all I had was an infected finger. I hope your thumb heals fast!

...does Eight count?

To me? Anything before the Ninth Doctor era counts, yes. I'd love to see more Eight fic.

Good. Eight is absolutely daffy unless he's angry, and I giggle like an insane thing whenever I write for him.

I have a Seven/Ace thing that may or may not be on Teaspoon already. If it's not, I'll send it in.

I'll do my best, but I tend to suck at things I've resolved to do. Must account for the lack of a career.

I'm thinking of doing a Five/Tegan thing after Summer Semester ends.

Alas, it probably will not be.

Six and Evelyn are so brilliant together.

Yes. If only ideas could spring fully formed from one's brain; trying to wrest the words into the right shape and all is the thing that kills too many stories!
