I saw this list of shows that a writer predicts will be cancelled by season's end. It consists of 'Til Death, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Privileged, Lipstick Jungle, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gary Unmarried, The Unit, The Ex List, Knight Rider, and Pushing Daisies. Fortunately, the only two cancellations from that list that would much bother me are Lipstick Jungle and SCC.

Now, hear me out: LJ is terrible. Absolutely terrible. But it's also hilarious. The show is the TV equivalent of badfic. The characters are crazy, the plots are incredibly stupid, and the dialogue is laughable. Then you have my favorite bit, which is Andrew McCarthy turning in a totally bizarre performance where he seems to be doing whatever the hell he wants and getting paid to do it. That he hasn't been fired yet is a minor miracle, but I hope he never is. The entertainment value from seeing him onscreen is just too great. New episode tonight, BTW! If this one gets cancelled, Private Practice is my second choice for so-bad-it's-good viewing. The game cast constantly gets saddled with lousy stories and strange characterization. I'm watching, though.

Then we have SCC, which I like because a lot of it is genuinely good. The author of this article is pretty skeptical about its chances, even though he wrote the piece after the show's surprising season renewal. Doesn't seem to think it'll stick. True, the ratings were really bad again this week--does Fox have some secret plan to goose them? Are they going to schedule SCC after American Idol in January for an episode or two? It didn't work for New Amsterdam, of course. Then again, it did succeed with the horrific Moment of Truth. Side note: Am I the only one who didn't know that a fourth Terminator movie is coming out? It's scheduled for May of next year.

I'm happy to see Til Death go. I've caught a few episodes and it always left me wondering how anyone could find it funny.

I hope Old Christine stays. My sister and her husband absolutely adore it. Other than that, I don't watch any of these shows. :s

As long as Fringe finishes out the season, I'll be happy :D

I'd be pretty concerned about the future of any show on that list--the author brings up good points. But I also think at least two or three of them will survive. Old Christine might be one that does.

Fringe should easily be safe for at least this season, unless something really strange happens. (Like with Commander in Chief taking a nosedive a few years ago.) I'm interested enough in Fringe to see where it goes, for now.
